Myopic thinking at work here. Halloween is only one night, and yeah, kids will get the shaft on that one. But think about how much fun it was to play outside after dinner on warm late summer nights. You had to go inside once it got dark. Now kids can run amok for an extra hour, playing freeze tag, riding their bikes in the cul-de-sac and enjoying those last vestiges of summer. My kids wolf down their dinner and practically break down the door to play with their buddies in the hood. A few more weeks of after dinner shennanigans is good for the whole family. But yeah...
