Don, While I don't have any CoolThreads in my environment, we do have a lot of experience with Solaris 10 and would be happy to lend a hand from afar.

Don,

I just wanted to drop a line here. We at Sun have read your review and appreciate your efforts. We'd be in touch shortly.

I'm happy to help - I've done some tuning on the T2000s here, and I know a few people that would be happy to help too.

Don, I think it would actually be a very easy thing to get Solaris up to par with what you need to do your tests and it would not take much of your time. A couple of suggestions:

- go ahead and do a full install (to get all the sfw packages and other good bits; this would not be what you run in production but it should be fair for a test)

- Grab the Blastwave bits (http://www.blastwave.org/) and get the tools you "know and love" in order to make the test as painless and quick as possible.

The Blastwave stuff is pretty handy and it should give you enough to get your testing done. Solaris rocks, independent of the underlying hardware. A good test might also be Solaris on your current standard vs your current OS/hw combo.
