In line for iPhone in Palo Alto

A bunch of us SmugMuggers, Robert Scoble, and Kristopher & Thomas from Zooomr are here in Palo Alto on University Avenue waiting for our iPhones. Kevin Rose from digg was here for awhile, broadcasting, but I’m not sure if he’s gonna broadcast anymore tonight. Zooomr is, though, on ZooomrTV.

Come on by and say hi!

(We still don’t know if we can actually use the iPhones we’re gonna buy, but we’ll try our hardest.)

Am I reading that map correctly, or are there two Apple stores within a dozen blocks of each other? *Starbucks* doesn’t even allow that kind of density, and they’re *everywhere*, just as Lewis Black.

(and to think, some of us have to drive hundreds of miles to get to an Apple store to play “Stump the Genius”.)

@cabbey: Rumor has it there’s a corner in Seattle with two Starbucks’ facing each other. But getting back to Palo Alto, don’t forget that Steve Jobs lives here (well, he owns a house there, I don’t know how much time he actually spends in it), and on top of that, Palo Alto really can’t be compared to any other place in the world (for better or worse), it’s in a class all by itself.

yeah, and if you connect the two of them on the map and extend the line out the same distance on the other side, guess what it looks like you hit… apple’s offices, or at least some of them.

But still, for those of us out here on the “silicon prairie” that are looking at long drives to get to an apple store after the local 3rd party stores that sold Apple gear and was an apple authorized service center and all that closed (just before the apple stores started to multiply like crazy about 10 years ago) it’s kinda sad to see an apple store ‘wasted’ like that.

But then somehow I doubt the local reaction is anywhere near the reaction they saw in the Silly Con Valley.
