New blog design

Ok, heard you all loud and clear. The old design was too tough to read. Plus I couldn’t post big photos and videos, which I’m obviously pre-disposed to do. :)

So thanks to GreenJimmy, I have a fun new design to play around with. Is this the final design? I doubt it, so you may see it change over the new few days or weeks. Knowing us, it may never be done…

I dig how it’s got old-school darkroom photos clothespinned up top, too. Reminds me of the days of chemicals and film… can’t say I miss them, but they were fun. :)

Like it? Don’t like it? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks Jimmy!

Definitely digging the new style, it’s a lot easier on the eyes :)

I really liked the colors of the old design, but this is much easier to read.

It feels like a breath of fresh air. It’s so very much easier to read. Thanks, guys!

Looks great! I think it may get too wide—narrower columns are easier to read. The colors definitely give better text contrast though.

I like it. It’s a nice open layout with plenty of space to show off the pictures. And it looks good in Google Reader.

    @DonMacAskill - My eyeballs <3 you!

    It’s very feminine.

I like the look (agree with Joe a bit) but overall I like it; It’s creative. It would be really cool to have a blog format included on SmugMug for all of the photographers to use on a regular basis … I know many professional photographers are starting to utilize these in their business. I know that your bread and butter is photos … and you do a killer job at it, but have you guys ever considered offering a blog template?

I agree with Jason on several points. But I will push forward a touch: I would *LOVE* to see this (if this hasn’t happened already) as a option on my site meaning instead of creating a Diary like I have done so already, THIS blog as a theme option would be incredibly awesome.

I would assume that we would also be able to set up the photos on the clothesline to use our own…

Any plans to add this blog set up as a theme? :P

My site serves two main functions: 1) shows of my photos of course, but also a main gallery of my family for out of town family to keep track of us, and 2) a Diary for the same reason.

The way I do the Diary now just seems a little old now and needs to be refreshed with a new *hint* look.

How can I get this format for my own blog? I love the size of the photos.

    due,
all you need are words and pictures to sufficiently get your point across and this format captures that. Now go do what it is that you do…
