Wow – I check the blog here every once in a while, but I wasn’t prepared to see my own photos over here! Thanks! Also great choice on the sample photo – that sign park in Hof was awesome.
Just hope that google maps will release some more detailed satellite footage of Germany at some point in the near future, as the maps aren’t as good as my GPS coordinates hopefully are.
It was your neat smugmaps feature that made me by a GPS-tracking device in the first place and now I have it with me where ever I go.
As you’ve posted this here now, I’ll try to get the captions done in English as well, so more people can enjoy my thoughts.

Hi Sebastian, great photos! I’m just curious, how did you get each photo to be mapped on Google Maps? I read the Smugmug explanation, but just got more confused. Did you have to somehow make a note on each photo saying the address of the shot taken? Or do you have some incredibly hi tech camera no one else knows about? Confused, Bobby

Actually there are two methods to enter the location of your pictures.
1. You can do it directly with the smugmug interface by going to a picture and choose ‘edit geography’ in the phototools selection box. There you can enter an address if your shot is taken in the US. This system doen’t currently work for other countries unfortunately, so you have to use other tools in finding the corresponding latitude and longitude coordinates that you need to enter in smugmug. For example http://www.maplandia.com/ has got cities worldwide in their database or you can download Google Earth (http://earth.google.com) for free.
2.Possebility is to integrate the location data using the gps-fields of EXIF-metadata. Smugmug then automaticly maps the pictures correctly after uploading. This is a littlebit more technical, as I know only one program that does integrate the location data into EXIF (WWMX Location Stamper from http://www.wwmx.org ), but this program needs a GPS-logfile to work with. As I’ve bought a cheap GPS device (PYXiS GPS handheld navigator from http://www.tfac.com.tw which is great for what I’m doing) for this purpose, I can’t tell you how to put together such a logfile manually.
