Today we’re featuring one of our longtime users whose photography not only raises the bar for performance artists, but whose own journey is a great story that gives a whole new meaning for the term “The SmugMug Family.”

Ben Rudick’s sister, father, mother, and stepmom are all Smuggers like him. There’s also a possibility that we might see some Rudick grandparents joining us, too. We love that not only are they all great, enthusiastic photographers, but that they share our passion, too!

Ben’s work comes from a love of theater and music, and the stunning but minimal lighting on stage makes for some truly beautiful and moving images of posture and emotion.

Dirk Behlau of Pixeleye Interactive is one of those unsung photographers you stumble upon on an ordinary day, but you just can’t get the images out of your head. In a world where pinup and retro looks are making a comeback, this photographer from Germany gives even the best a run for their money:

Critical Exposure

Critical Exposure is a non-profit organization working to bring public education reform and social change by providing cameras to urban students across the US. From Baltimore to Philadelphia to Albuquerque, kids are showing the world their every day battles with going to school and the difficulties of getting education in at-risk neighborhoods.

I stumbled upon some jaw-dropping digital art by a talented woman named Iryna Smolych. Combining photography and true digital manipulation, this freelance artist (who goes by the name Josephine) has found her own window into a magical world.

According to her biography page: “… Sometimes I want to make my own world, fantastic world, world without sufferings and anger, without envy and lie. I want that my world would be full of beauty and dreams, cleanness and love.”

Beauty in Rusted Age

According to his bio, Marc Weinberg began shooting in 1959 on a Kodak Brownie. His recent work is done in digital though, with this particular gallery of gorgeous rusted cars being shot on a Canon Rebel XT.
