Ack! Sorry, I didn't see your second note until just now, Robert.

We only pinpointed the issue a few weeks ago, as you pointed out. We often fix bugs that fast, though, if they are affecting many people or badly affecting even just a few people. As I mentioned, the issue you're having has an extremely easy workaround. In fact, it would make using SmugMug faster for you. (Currently you have to manually turn mapping back on after you add your photos, because you're turning it off before adding them.)

I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say that others have similar problems, because I'm only aware of the one problem and I've never seen anyone else have it. However, we'd love to hear if there's something else going on.

I believe the caption issue is just a "fix" for the same bug you're encountering. Essentially, adding a caption after you turn geography back on "refreshes" the photo and causes it to show up on the map, the same way that going to the Edit Geography photo tool does.

Well, others in the forums have had similar problems. This has been a problem for at least a year now, if it hasn't been addresses an only received notice because of my constant complaining and still doesn't warrant fixing when other photo sharing sites have no such problems then it is time to move on.

BTW the other issue is that photos won't show unless you have added a caption to them. This I also reported and again it was ignored. I have no intentions of adding captions to my photos. I shoot far too many of them and upload hundreds at a time to do that.

@Robert: I'm sorry we haven't fixed that particular bug, yet. As I understand it, the issue is that you turn off mapping in your galleries, upload geotagged photos, and then turn mapping back on. The geotagged photos don't show up on the map until you hit the "edit geography" tool for them. Is that correct?

So the workaround is, just enable mapping before you add the photos to your SmugMug gallery.

Again, I'm sorry it's not been fixed yet, but currently you are the only person affected by it (that I'm aware of) and there is a very easy workaround. So to be honest, that particular bug isn't at the top of our list at the moment. :(

If it's a deal-breaker for you, we're certainly sad to see you go! If there's anything we can do to help you be happier here at SmugMug (short of bumping this bug ahead of the other features and fixes our engineers are working on), please let us know.

Still no fix for the geotagging problems even though I help find the problem weeks ago. I guess it is time to find a new photo sharing site. I removed my images from SmugMug because of this problem and had hoped and prayed you would fix the problem, but I guess you don't give a hoot. Time to move on.
