We desperately would like you to add the feature that allows people to receive an email when a certain SmugMug site/gallery is updated with new pics/movies. This would enable people to follow the updates rather than looking for new content. The feature would allow people to enter their email address and select the frequency of the updates (instantly, daily, weekly, monthly). The email that would be sent would indicate the number of pictures and the gallery name of the new pics/movies.

This would be a GREAT feature for those of us that use our SmugMug site to share pics of our kids with grandparents, family members and friends.

Thanks

@Chris : Thanks for bringing that to our attention. It's been fixed since yesterday, I believe.

@Robert: Thanks for the feedback. There are so many great blogging platforms already out there, I think for the time being we're focusing on meshing better with existing platforms rather than building our own. We'll keep your request in mind, though.

@Darryl: Thanks for pointing that out!

Robert --

I think you might be able to approximate a blog by using the Journal style for a particular gallery. It will certainly allow for commentary, etc.

One approach to what you propose for the home page would be to hide the galleries there and display them on a "vanity page" using this hack: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?p=355505#post355505

On your home page you could then write a bit of HTML that links to either your Blog (the gallery in Journal style) or your Galleries (vanity page above).

Slideshow fixes also have fixed the problem where videos would freeze it up. Now the preview still is shown. It's not the same as having the video automatically play, but it's better than having the whole slideshow break, so yay.

How about adding a photo blog feature to our smug mug sites. This could be on the front page (with a setting to either have a vistor start in the blog or the galleries) with easy click to select inclusion of photos in our smug galleries.

I would love to be able to talk more about what I am doing photographically, post ideas for post processing in Photoshop, etc. This would be a great addition to SmugMug.

Great news on the iPhone fixes. We have a main family category and sub-categories for each month, so this was very nice to have. However, if you browse by Category and have to click "Show more Sub-categories", it still comes up with a message "No public albums found" and a weirdly formatted partial bullet list of subcategories.
